Buried Sump Pump Discharge Drain System

We had the opportunity recently to install a buried sump pump discharge drain system consisting of mainly solid 4" Schedule 40 PVC pipe and several feet of NDS EZ-Flow french drain pipe. The positive sloped combined material drain pipe outlets to daylight within back yard lawn where it is covered by a 6" pop-up emitter.

Overall, this custom residential buried drainage improvement project solved several issues that were of concern.

  • Modified unsightly sump pump discharge pipe that extended several feet out rear wall of house.

Existing unimproved sump pump discharge pipe

  • Redirected any/all sump pump discharged water away from rear foundation to middle of back yard.

  • Future rear foundation landscape improvements can now be completed without fear of excess water related plant stress, erosion, etc.

  • Nature of materials used in this installation promotes no standing water in buried drain system.

Based on the fantastic quality of soil found at this particular location, all displaced soil remaining was relocated on-site to adjacent plant beds. Unless specified otheriwse, when buried drainage systems are installed, any/all excess excavated soil (mixed with clay, gravel and debris - in particular) is usually disposed of off-site.
